Waiting for the sun to rise on the day before the Winter Solstice, I am watching the sunlit clouds reflected on the ancient fishponds on the coast of the big island of Hawaii.  I know the light will come, and the shortest day will unfold into a new year.  And so I am waiting for the light.

“Now is the time,” I hear.  Now is the time for us to let our own light shine, to unveil that deep inner fire, to blow on those embers, to remember our original emanation from the Source that lit, enflamed, enlivened, and birthed this Universe.  If I am but one tiny spark, I am also one spark of Infinite Power.

Blow off the dust, the excuses, the beliefs, the programming that have kept us small and thinking our lives are too tiny to make a difference.  Consider the difference one candle makes in a darkened room, one voice makes to a broken heart, one gesture of love or kindness makes to a lonely soul.

You do not need to do it all.  In fact, it may not even be about doing more, trying to fix or change or help.  It may be more about allowing this light to shine on your path and guide you towards stillness, towards aligned action.  It may be waiting for the sunrise on a winter morning.  It may be sleeping in or gazing at the stars or finding what brings you joy.

Why is that song called, Joy to the World?  “Joy to the world, the Lord is come.”  We are not alone on Earth.  We are divinely connected and protected, and though we have forgotten, although many actions still occur on this Earth of disconnection, separation, injury and all the rest, now is the time to shine your light and to find your joy.

We are not here to focus on the darkness and getting rid of it, for darkness is simply the absence of light. Notice the darkness, and discern clearly.  Bring the light of your heart into each moment.  If the darkness feels overwhelming, begin with the love in your own heart.  Love your body.  Love being here on Earth.  Love your unique expression and all the beauty and connection and mystery you experience.  Let your love and energy shine into this world.  Create and experience more joy, and share it with others.

Joy to the world, You are here.

Let your light shine.
